Paris : Quai Branly Museum : Architecture has too much importance
The initiative of the creation of a museum devoted to Primitiv Art in Paris is a very good idea, but we consider it regrettable that the container ( the work of the architect Jean Nouvel) takes more importance than the contents. In the museum, an interminable footbridge bring visitors in a large showroom where the lack of contextualisation and the relative accumulation of works can destabilize. The museography makes think of a department store like that of the new museum of Decorativ Art in Paris. Admittedly, the number of exposed works is such as it would have been impossible to practise, in this particular architecture, a perfect museography and an installation like those of the rooms devoted to Primitiv Art with the museum of the Louvre.

On peut louer l’initiative de la création d’un musée consacré aux Arts premiers, tout en regrettant que le contenant (l’oeuvre de l’architecte Jean Nouvel) prenne le pas sur le contenu. Une interminable passerelle mène les visiteurs dans une grande salle d’exposition où le manque de contextualisation et le relatif entassement des oeuvres peut gêner. Certes, le nombre d’oeuvres exposées est tel qu’il aurait été impossible de pratiquer, dans cette architecture particulière, une muséographie et un aménagement élitistes comme ceux des salles consacrées aux Arts premiers au musée du Louvre.
