Christie’s said that it had cancelled the auction for the « Min Fanglei « , a fabulous Chinese archaic bronze, which was planned for today, preferring selling it through a private transaction. This peace was considered as the highlight of the Asia Week that gathers major merchants and auctions houses in New York this week.
According to Christie’s, the deal has been finalized with a group of private Chinese collectors from the Hunan province. The buyers aim to offer it as a gift to the Hunan provincial museum which already owns the recipient cover, that was not part of Christie’s auction. PB
